STAFF BIOINFORMATICS SCIENTIST

spectrum of sequencing solutions, including the major next generation sequencing platforms. Our Bioinformatics Scientists play a key role by helping
to process, analyze and deliver the m<b>bottom</b>ive amounts of data produced by these platforms across a broad range of specific
applications.
The Senior/Staff Bioinformatics Scientist will have demonstrated expertise and ability to work independently in the field of next generation
sequencing data analysis. The candidate will be expected to contribute to and execute upon bioinformatics strategy with proven experience and a track
record of delivering on goals. The candidate will work closely with teams of skilled bioinformaticians, study managers, molecular biologists and
operations personnel. Hence, the ability to work effectively in cross functional teams with a customer centric view is a necessity for the successful
candidate. The Senior/Staff Bioinformatics Scientists responsibilities will include working closely with informatics and scientific personnel to
implement pipelines and advanced software to analyze and integrate Next Generation sequencing data related to genomics research. Additional
responsibilities will include designing and developing in-house bioinformatics tools, evaluating and integrating community-developed bioinformatics
tools, performing appropriate quality control analyses using both manual and computational approaches, and providing technical support and effective
communication with study managers and customers.
Multiple positions are available, which include opportunities for leadership and supervision. Strong leadership and management skills with
demonstrated ability to develop and execute upon strategy and supporting plans are a plus, but are not required.
Qualifications:
Advanced degree with at least 5 years of relevant experience is required.
Ph.D degree with at least 4 years of postdoctoral or industry experience is preferred.
The ideal candidate will be familiar with common methods of statistical analysis and a broad spectrum of bioinformatics tools (e.g., Major Genome
Browsers, NCBI tools, EBI tools, Genome Center tools, <b>bottom</b>embly software, Alignment software, Comparative Analysis software,
Next-gen applications software, Cloud based solutions, etc.).
Experience with whole genome analysis is a plus, as is knowledge of variant (SNP, indel, CNV, etc) detection and gene expression analysis.
Detailed knowledge of genomics concepts from the molecular biology and genetics perspective is a strong plus.
Demonstrate prior application of programming expertise (Perl and/or Java preferred) for genomic data manipulation and analysis.
Working knowledge of SQL, Oracle, and Perl is required.
Self-directed individual with a high level of initiative who is capable of regular in-depth review and understanding of biomedical literature.
Excellent analytical skills and attention to detail required.
Excellent oral and written communication skills and ability to work effectively in a team environment required.
